Pupils from 4th, 5th and 6th class represented the school recently in a chess tournament held in Glenville National School. This tournament has become an annual event now in the calendars of the chess enthusiasts and many were eager to improve on their results from last year’s event. We had many new comers also which was great to see.

The children went up against other chess masters from Glenville, Rathduff, Killavullen, Bweeng and Rathpeacon.

It was a great day highlighting both the skills of the game and the respect players have for one another. Comradery is built off these games and so many of the players look to help their opponent after the contest so they are more prepared for their next game.
